Identity Essay!

1. Post your final draft.

2. Select a student essay to read and then respond to.

3. After reading a peer’s essay, type a response in Microsoft Word. In your response, do the following:

a) Write about one specific part of their essay that you liked. Describe it in detail.

b) Write about something about their identity that you wished they talked more on.

Poem Expository Essay

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Type your expository essay in Microsoft Word.
  2. Be sure to provide a citation for each informational source.
  3. Reread your essay.
  4. Post.
  5. Read and respond to another student’s expository essay. Reply with constructive criticism, noting positive and negative aspects of the writing, especially noting when the explanation become unclear, or when it becomes very clear.

Cornucopia of Student Persuasion

9th grade English students have chosen persuasive topics that matter to them. Here you will find the results of critical thought and persuasive rhetoric that touches on the logos, pathos, and ethos.

Please respond with constructive criticism using the following guidelines:

1. Write about one or two effective techniques the author used.

2. Write which argument was strongest–the pathos, ethos, or logos. Explain why you thought so.

3. Provide a point of criticism that is helpful to the author–this may be in the area of grammar, he flow of the essay, or use of examples, facts, and details.

Persuasive Letter

Publish your persuasive letter to Philip (or a made-up character) that convinces him stop racism or other prejudice.
